A PAIR OF INDIAN DAMASCENED AND CARVED STEEL ARMGUARDS (BAZU BAND)
NORTH INDIA, EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Each of typical half cylinder form with rounded end, a hinged panel to complete the cylinder passing over the forearm, the main body carved with an elaborate design of scrolling tendrils terminating in well-delineated flowerheads around a central cusped ogival medallion with similar centrepiece, in a border of finely damascened gold meandering flowering vine between minor similar stripes, the smaller panel with similar decoration, the hinges and loops for straps similarly damascened, areas of slight corrosion
