A SULTANABAD COBALT-BLUE, TURQUOISE AND LUSTRE DECORATED POTTERY BOWL
NORTH PERSIA, 14TH CENTURY
Of rounded form with central recess, the exterior moulded with radiating ribs, on short foot, the interior with six radiating arms of scrolling lustre motifs dividing six segments, the lustre ground of each with small scrolling motifs around a turquoise highlighted palmette, draped blue spandrels, the rim with reserved lustre plant motifs, the reverse with radiating blue and turquoise outlined panels containing scrolling and inscription bands, intact, superbly preserved glaze
6½in. (16.5cm.) diam.
