Of typical form, the fluted shaft engraved with a wide band of elegant arabesques between minor borders of scrolling meander, the mouth and foot engraved with bands of poetic nasta'liq, a smaller inscription band above with name of the patron and date 1008, repaired split to base and chip to mouth, foot slightly reduced

Lot Essay

The nasta'liq inscriptions contained within cartouches are poetic.
The cartouche underneath the rim contains the makers name and the date of manufacture: sahibi khojeh 'Abd al-... 1008 (Its owner Khojeh 'Abd al-..., 1008).
