The circular rising top enclosing a fitted interior with a single lidded well and a compartment for a further well and two mixing-bowls, the urn-shaped body with a gadrooned edge and on a octagonal spreading shaft and on stiff leaves, and a concave-sided canted triangular plinth with scroll feet, lacking mixing-bowl and one caddy, the hinged top detached

This teapoy is another variation of the type of Gillow teapoy of which lot 52 is also an example. A pattern for a related rectangular teapoy appears in the Estimate Sketch Book for 1816, no. 3030). A design for a large open rectangular wine cooler with the same oversized reeded underside and distinctive Gillow feet is in the Estimate Sketch Book, 1820, no. 3064, and an executed circular cooler of the latter model was sold at Christie's London, 24 October 1991, lot 126.
