With pierced rectangular back centred by beeded tapering bars and foliate needlework covered seat and square tapering legs joined by a stretcher, the back stretcher branded 'B' below a Baron's coronet (2)

Almost certainly supplied to the 6th Duke of Bolton (d.1794) for Hackwood.
By descent until sold in 1935 with Hackwood to William Berry, 1st Viscount Camrose (d.1954).
Thence by descent.

Lot Essay

The brand on this side chair is the same as those on the pair of Regency caned oak bergeres (lot 56) which were supplied by Gillows in 1813. This brand must be from a 19th century inventory.
