A MATCHED PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY SERPENTINE CHESTS
Each with moulded top above four graduated long drawers and on shaped bracket feet, the interior of one top drawer inscribed in ink 'D' and the reverse inscribed in chalk 'Corridor 2 East wing', the handles stamped '8', the other commode with the interior of the top drawer inscribed in ink '19' (scored out) and 'B' and with a faint Regency inventory mark, one lacking one backplate and with two handles replaced and with reduced feet, variations in carved apron moulding and profile of the feet
