Thomas Orde-Powlett, 1st Lord Bolton (1740-1807), was Governor of the Isle of Wight from 1791-1807 and heavily involved in raising its regiments of militia against the expected French invasion. Many of the papaers are in the Hampshire Record Office (11M49).
