The circular case with pine-cone and ribbon-tied laurel surmount, the white enamel dial with pierced gilt hands, Roman numerals and Arabic minute divisions, signed Planchon/A PARIS, the twin-train movement with countwheel striking on a bell, supported on the back of a crouching eagle with outspread wings, on a breakfront rectangular marble plinth centred by scrolling foliage, flanked by chandelle-inset flutes, on berry-cast feet
