A French ormolu-mounted, ivory and mother-of-pearl-mounted stained wood cabinet
Attributed to Gabriel Viardot, Circa 1890
The upper section of stylised pagoda form, carved with foliage, flanked by a monkey picking pomegranates from a branch, above the bevelled glass door and glazed sides, the red velvet-lined interior with a pair of stepped shelves, supported on four legs terminating with a grotesque beast foot, the back applied with an ivory and mother-of-pearl figure of a Chinaman, the lower section with frieze drawer with turtle handle, flanked by a mother-of-pearl bird, above a bevelled glass door and sides, the red velvet-lined interior with a pair of shelves, on shaped base centred by a dragon, on shaped feet
