The circular top inset with a shallow dish painted to the centre with a portrait of Louis XVI, within a band of flower and fleur-de-lys decorated lozenges, the foliate-chased border inset with eighteen oval medaillons, seventeen depicting court beauties, one the Royal Coat of Arms, with a pierced frieze, on a baluster support mounted with drapery swags and acanthus and with scrolling foliate-cast brackets, on triform base
