Letterpress title overslip with hand-coloured engraved surround, illustrations, 11 hand-coloured, 57 hand-coloured county engraved maps only (of 58, lacking Britannia... temporibus Anglo-Saxonum, old dampstaining, some maps spotted.) Contemporary vellum gilt, g.e. (spine torn, lightly soiled, bowed, remains of green ties).
Volume IV from Bleau's Theatrum, on England and Wales. The county maps in this attractive atlas set a standard of engraving and cartographical design that was not surpassed by any English mapmaker until the work of Cary and Greenwood in the early 19th century. Koeman I.Bl 44.
