Lot Essay

It is very rare to find gilt-silver figures, such as the present lot. For similar gilt-bronze examples, see the crouching bear in the City Art Museum of St.Louis, Missouri, and another in the A. Stoclet Collection, Brussels, illustrated, Royal Academy of Arts, International Exhibition of Chinese Art, London, 1935/6, p.51, nos.510-511.
