Painted in underglaze red and blue with Shoulao beside a stag amidst crested waves beneath cloud swirls, the exterior decorated with the Eight Daoist Immortals with their respective attributes on a ground of crested waves

Lot Essay

The hall mark reads qing yi tang zhi (Hall of Blessings and Correctness). A similar Daoguang example, marked on the base cai hua tang zhi (Hall of Colourful Flowers), was sold in London, 5 December 1995, lot 435.
