Each with channelled shaped padded back and seat covered in green floral silk damask, the waved toprail centred by a cabochon and foliate cartouche and flanked by rocaille C-scrolls, the serpentine-fronted moulded seat-rail centred by a further foliate cabochon cartouche, on channelled foliate-headed cabriole legs and scroll feet (2)

Lot Essay

These chaise à la Reine share much in common with that by Louis-Charles Carpentier (maître in 1752) in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (illustrated in G.Janneau, Les Sièges, Pas, 1967, no.196, p.100).
