The ratchetted rectangular top above a panelled frieze mounted with alternating stars and stiff-leaves and enclosing a black leather-lined writing-slide above a pair of tambour doors enclosing a satinbirch-lined interior, with one shelf flanked by Egyptian herm supports with panelled doors centred by lion-masks 'bronzed' on green painted and parcel-gilt monopodium above a concave-fronted base, restoraitons inscribed to the underside '01' in black ink, with castors, possibly Austrian

Lot Essay

With its 'antique' bronzed ornament, restrained ormolu mounts and finely-figured mahogany, this folio-cabinet reflects the influence of Bernard Molitor, who was elected maître in 1787 (Ulrich Leben, Molitor, London, 1992, p.88/148).
