A study for the carving of Ariel which adorns the Headquarters of the B.B.C. at Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London. It was given by Gill to the actor, Leslie French, who was playing Ariel in the Old Vic production of 'The Tempest' at Sadler's Wells, and who became the main model for Gill's Ariel.
