The present work is a smaller version of 'Wounded' from circa 1914-15, which was sold in these Rooms on 9 October 1942, lot 55 as 'La Blessé'. There is a series of related drawings of the subject called 'The Red Cross Nurse'; Sickert also etched this subject.
