The octagonal barrel decorated with five cranes among clouds and cherry blossom, with the inscription Yamashiro no Kami kore kazaru [Yamashiro no Kami decorated this] and the crest of the Maru ni Hon no ji family in gold and silver nunome zogan, the black lacquered wood stock decorated in gold hiramakie with a Tokugawa Aoi mon and the crest of Maru ni Hon no ji family, a groove shaped sight, brass fittings, old minor wear and ramrod missing
