Mei: Sa, Muromachi Period (Late 15th/early 16th Century)
The blade honzukuri, iorimune with chugissaki, torii zori, forging pattern itame, tempered edge slightly notare with some gunome in nie and with some kuichigai-ba, slightly notare-komi with yakitsume, tang suriage with two holes, sujichigai in the lower part and yokoyasuri in the upper part, 27in. (68.5cm.); in a roironuri scabbard, the baleen bound hilt with a silver fuchi-kashira engraved with scrolling foliage in katakiri bori, a pair of silver menuki of cockerels and an iron circular tsuba decorated with flower, mimi with gold and silver fukurin
