A RED LACQUER KATANA CANE, A GENDAI-TO AND A TANTO

The red lacquer koshirae modelled as a bamboo-like walking cane, the blade Kanbun Shinto shape, honzukuri, the mitsumune with chugissaki, forging pattern mokume, tempered edge, choji mixed gunome of nioi, 27½in. (69.8cm.), some old wear to the lacquer; a gendai-to, the blade honzukuri, iorimune, koshi-zori with chugissaki, masame-itamehada with ji-nie, kogunome hamon of nie with togare and sunagashi, boshi obscured, ubu nakago, Mei: Noshu ju Kanenobu, Meiji Period (20th century), 27.1/8in. (69cm.); and a Koto tanto, the blade hira-zukuri, iorimune with little sori, mokume-itamehada, hoso suguha hamon of nie, suriage nakago, mumei, Edo Period (16th century), in a speckled red lacquer saya, horn kashira, shakudo fuchi chiselled with waves and inlaid with a gilt fish, horn tsuba, Edo Period (19th century) (3)
