Similar examples with enamel lappets to the shoulder are in the Burghley House collection, illustrated in The Burghley Porcelains, (Japan Society, New York, 1986), no. 74, and Hinton, M and Impey, O, "Flowers of Fire", Kakiemon Porcelain from the English Country House (1989), no. 11. A similar vase is illustrated in Soame Jenyns Japanese Porcelain, (Faber & Faber, London, 1965), no. 54a, where it states that another piece in Japan is described as "probably by Kakiemon I", who died in 1666.
