The mat and the kiku karakusa decorating the sides of the box in takamakie on a kinji ground, the interior and base nashiji; and another, the cover decorated in gold and silver togidashi, sprinkled with fine kimpun on a black ground, depicting a kitten, its eyebrows and details of the fur in hiramakie, sleeping on the long streamers of a hanging floral festival decoration, the wreath in silver and gold lacquer, the blossom and leaves on the streamers edged in gold hiramakie and some of the leaves in gold and silver foil, the ends of the wreath trailing over both the cover and the box, the interior of the box and cover in bright kinji and hirame with a cherry blossom inlaid in the centre
