Carved in the round in the form of a Nembutsu oni carrying a gong and a subscription book, collecting donations for a temple, unusually it is divided vertically with a hinge at the lower end, thus requiring pairs of himotoshi rings, one set around the rim of each side of the container, decorated in red, gold, shibuichi and black ishime lacquer in hiramakie and sparse gyobu, with raden inlays for the subscription book and the eyes which have red lacquer irises and black pupils, the mottled black interior is scattered sparsely with gyobu, with a silver and shibuichi ojime
