The frosted gilt chain fusee three-quarter plate movement jewelled to the third with screwed chatons, the plain cock with diamond endstone, free-sprung blued steel helical spiral with endcurves, Earnshaw escapement with spring detent, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, inset subsidiary dials for running seconds and power reserve indication, blued steel spade hands, under hinged bezel with thumbpiece for hand set, in engine-turned gold case with hinged cuvette, casemaker's mark RR, anti-theft bow, movement and dial signed

Lot Essay

Charles Frodsham bought John Roger Arnold's business at 84 Strand from his executors in 1843, which became know as Arnold and Frodsham. In 1858 his firm was renamed Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand.
