The nickel plated self-winding chronometer movement with superbalance numbered 67096, the matt silvered dial with raised gilt dagger numerals, blued steel hands, outer date ring with central date hand, apertures for the day of the week and the month, sector for the moon, the steel circular case with chamfered bezel, downturned lugs and snap on back, leather strap and Rolex steel buckle, case, dial and movement signed
38 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

The Oyster model 6062 has been considered more desirable than the "non" Oyster model 8171, yet the 8171 is in fact rarer than the Oyster version. Whilst the Oyster model was in the company's catalogues for over 8 years (1951 to 1959) the 8171 was only available for 4 years (1952 to 1955).
