Arms of the dedicatee, Monaldo Monaldeschi embellish each lower corner, lower margin with inset legend of principal buildings, short description and arms of the rioni, compass rose and scalebar with dividers. (Trimmed to image, edges strengthened on verso.) VERY RARE. A fine dark impression of the Rocca of Orvieto, feudal capital of the Monaldeschi family. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, one of the outstanding examples of Italian gothic architecture, dominates the centre of the city. Cavellerijs, a native of Trieste, was a famous engraver active in Rome during the 1580s, and made numerous engravings after various Italian Renaissance artists.
