THOUENO, Jacobo (engraver). Descrittione della Campania felice. No imprint: 1651.
Engraved map of Campania on a Royal sheet, 308 x 385mm. Title set in a decorative cartouche with a wreath of fruit with the symbols of war, inset detail Parte del Campo Cumano and key, scalebar set in a decorative strapwork cartouche, scrolled cartouche titled 'Citta et Luoghi di sito ambiguo' listing places that are not shown because of uncertain position. (Trimmed to plate mark and window-mounted.)
A fine clear impression showing major topographical and hydrographic features of the Campania, towns, villages and roads taken, as the legend records, from the Discorsi of Camillo Pellegrino. There are two possible Camillo Pellegrino's, differentiated as the elder and the younger of Capua. It is though that the legend is referring to a work of Camillo Pellegrino the elder, published in 1584. Watermark, a cross with a crescent and two circles.
