Engraved bird's-eye view of Catania on a single Royal sheet, 384 x 508mm (engraving 368 x 492mm). The view includes the walls, the surrounding fields and the coastline, Mount Etna, arms of Catania, inset key, the seas decorated with ships and fishing vessels. (Some discolouration.)

An impressive early view of Catania reworked to add extra smallships and galleons. Places in the city and in the surrounding landscape are included in the key, amongst which are the fortress, the bishop's palace, the Church of St Agatha, and the three Roman theatres. The whole view is dominanted by an erupting Mount Etna. Watermark not legible.
