Lot Essay

The wording to the title corresponds with Cioranesco's recognised first issue rather than the second, but where he calls for 156 pages in this issue, the present copy has 165 pages, which is the number called for by Cioranesco in the second issue. Ricaud was minister at Lyon, and was saved from the massacre by the seigneur de la Mante, governor of the town, who procured him a refuge in the citadel.
