The sticks are similar to Alexandre fan no. 28 in the Exhibition Imperial Fans from The Hermitage, The Fan Museum 1997, a fan possibly prepared for the engagement or marriage of Maria Alexandrovna who married HLRH The Duke of Edinburgh, son of HLM Queen Victoria. The sticks are described as "recalling that of the tabletier Brisevin"
