The drum-shaped case surmounted by a swag-hung urn and supported on the back of a lion, the rectangular plinth with Greek key borders and projecting angles trailing berried laurel swags, the white enamel Roman dial with Arabic five minutes and inner concentric calendar ring, pierced gilt-metal hands and blued date pointer, the later associated movement mounted with a platform lever escapement to the backplate also stamped 4953
