The hood with swan neck pediment terminating in carved flowerheads, flanking arcaded plinth for finial (lacking), outset brass-capped reeded columns, with chequer-bordered panel above tracery arch trunk door, flanked by cluster column angles, the chamfered plinth on bracket feet (one lacking), the white dial with painted rolling ship/moon in the arch (retouched), the spandrels painted with amorous couples in seasonal encounters, with scene of the Manchester mail coach to the centre, lozenge-pierced steel hands, also with seconds ring and signature JNO. ONION New Market MANCHESTER (retouched), with calendar to the inside of the chapter ring, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement
