after L.A Malempré, naturalistically modelled as a brown monkey riding atop a large green and brown tortoise, the monkey using his tail as a harness, on a pale-blue mound and cobalt-blue canted rectangular base, impressed title, marks and date 1877 on base (left wrist and tail restored) -- 43.3cm. high
