in ink on silk, an Imperial edict of the Emperor Qianlong relating to the posting of dignitaries in the province of Shandong. The edict extols the morals and values of the men to be chosen and their role in teaching loyalty, fidelity and devotion. The men shall perform their tasks to the highest level in serving the Emperor. It notes that the Imperial edict shall always be respected and never rebuked. Dated the 20th day of the 11th month in the 26th year of the Qianlong rule, ie. 1762.
