A famille rose armorial tureen and cover
of oblong, octagonal form with boars' head handle and foliate finial, painted and gilt to the cover with monogrammed crests bearing the initials 'JB' below the motto 'Dominus Providebet' within a floral garland border, the base with the double peacock pattern -- 13¾in. (35cms) wide, Qianlong, (heavily restored).

The arms are of Boyle. The crest and motto are of the Earls of Glasgow descended from John Boyle of Caleburne in Ayrshire. See 'Chinese Armorial Porcelain', D.S Howard, page 618.
