An exquisite mid 19th-Century miniature brass and ferrous metal model of a single cylinder, four-pillar, table engine,
the ivory base inscribed Jethro Crawford. Maker. Glasgow. 1861 ., with tiny inverted vertical cylinder, the piston rod guide mounted between two of the four pillars supporting the entablature, forked connecting rod, waisted crank, the crank-shaft mounted in two bearings with centrally mounted eccentric with tapered eccentric rod and outboard spoked flywheel. The engine is mounted on a round brass floor and in turn mounted on a Victorian silver three-penny piece and a round ivory plinth, the hollowed ivory base with mounting bolt and inlet pipe inscribed as above, with domed glass cover -- 2¾in. (7cm.) high, 2¼in. (5.7cm.) diameter. Plush-lined leatherette carrying box
