A fine early 19th-Century brass and wrought iron model of a reversing six pillar, single cylinder, rotative beam engine,
with cylinder 1.1/8in. bore x 2½in. stroke mounted on four turned columns, studded stuffing box, slip eccentric and gab operated twin pairs of rod driven inlet/exhaust valves mounted in upper and lower steam chests joined by two decorative columns, separate steam ways, parallel motion with gibbed and cottered drop links with split brasses and shaped anchor and radius rods, cast pierced brass beam mounted in trunnions on a simple entablature supported on six turned columns, barrelled connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big and little ends, the crank shaft, with spoked flywheel and 'V' belt pulley, running in two main bearings with pierced trunnion supports, the whole mounted on a cast rectangular bed, finished in green and polished brightwork -- 12 x 14in. (30.5 x 35.5cm.)
