An 18th-Century gilt universal equinoctial compass sundial,
signed Jac. Ema. Laminit. a: Augsp: 48 gr:, the folding hour ring with engraved wave border lined with a silver scale graduated 4 - 12 - 8, with spring-loaded folding gnomon and engraved "hand" pointer running against the folding brass latitude arc graduated 10° - 90°, the gilt baseplate elaborately pierced and engraved to show rampant lions and (?)satyrs, the folding spring-loaded plummet frame pierced and engraved, with plummet, the compass with silver rose and arrow showing magnetic North about 10° West of true North (replacement brass-capped, blued-steel needle), the underside engraved with wind rose design, three turned gilt feet -- 2¾in. (7.2cm.) long
