A SMALL BLACK-FIGURE NECK AMPHORA
ATTRIBUTED TO THE HYBLAEA CLASS, CIRCA 550 B.C.
Side A: Dancing maenad pursued by Dionysus on a mule and two satyrs, the first running satyr holding a wine-skin over his shoulders, the second dancing with his arms before him
Side B: Dionysos and Ariadne, with a dancing satyr to the left and a dancing satyr and single maenad to the right, the bearded god holding a vine branch in his right hand and a drinking-horn in his left, under one handle a kneeling satyr EPHOMENOSi
Around the neck a frieze of interlacing palmettes and lotus buds, alternating red and black tongues around the shoulder, black rays on reserved band around the foot, added red and white detail, repaired from several fragments with minor restoration
