The Kailasanatha Temple is dedicated to Shiva and is probably the most impressive ensamble of the whole Ellora group. It is approached on the west side through a rock screen pierced by an entrance passage. A Nandi shrine preceds the central great assembly hall leading subsequently to the main Lingam shrine. E.M. Forster wrote on this site: "More amazing than anything in a land where much amazes". (4)
