Lot Essay

Government House (1799-1802) was designed by Capt. Charles Wyatt, who based his design on Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire. The house was the residence of the British Governors-General and Viceroy until 1911. The dome, depicted in the above watercolour, was added in 1814. See lot 87 for further information.
