Travancore is a state of Southern India streching more than 150 miles along the west coast. The actual incidents depicted here have not been identified, although the presentation of letters from Queen Victoria to the 'ruling' potentates of India played a part in the diplomatic and political machinations of British India. Victoria visited India only once.
