Aquatints with etching, drawn and engraved by Moffat, Calcutta, 1803 and 1805, mounted on card, edges a little frayed, small marginal tears (repaired) not effecting image, in mounts

Of Moffat's prints Pheroza Godrej and Pauline Rohatgi write 'Judging by the rarity of each one, it appears that he worked mostly on commission and printed only a few impressions from each plate' (Scenic Splendours: India through the printed image, 1989, p33; the 'South View' is not in the list of Moffat's prints in the Appendix, and antedates his better-known 'South East View' published in London in 1805).
