INCISED QIANLONG NINE-CHARACTER MARKS BEARING A CYCLICAL DATE GENGYIN YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO A.D. 1770

Both figures seated in vajrasana on a tapering rectangular throne with falling drapery over the front and foliate supports at the corners, their hands in dhyana mudra, each wearing a five-leaf headdress, adorned with elaborate beaded jewellery, the nimbus chased in a double-arch with jagged flames, the base incised with Da Qing Qianlong geng ying nian jing zao, 'Respectfully made in the gengyin year of the Qianlong period of the Great Qing Dynasty', some wear to gilt (attributes missing)

An identical figure of the same size cylically dated to the same year is in the Chang Foundation, Catalogue, no. 21, where the author suggests the aureole is of embossed copper.

A similar figure dated to the Xinsi year (1761) of Qianlong's reign is illustrated by von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, pl. 158B.
