The rocky mountain naturalistically carved, the sides with a continuous path lined by tall pine trees, a group of standing Daoist Immortals gathered at the foothill, some examining an unrolled handscroll bearing a yin yang symbol, observed by a further figure holding a large peach in both hands (minor age cracks)

Lot Essay

A slightly larger bamboo mountain carved with an assemblage of Daoist figures contemplating a scroll also with a yin yang symbol, is in the British Museum and illustrated by Rawson (ed.), Chinese Art, no. 129.
