Lot Essay

The motif of a woman or the goddess Nike attending a thymiaterion was popular during the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. For a similar example compare the silver ring in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, no. 791 in Boardman, Greek Gems and Finger Rings.
