Lot Essay

Fornasetti discovered that folding screens were a perfect vehicle for him to express his unique approach to pictorial decoration. Not only did their size permit him to expand his vocabulary of motifs, but as seen in 'Garden of the 8th Century', to inventively repeat a subject so as to create a floating memory.
