A WOODLANDS QUILLED HIDE OUTFIT
Consisting of a jacket with fringed edges and floral cut out designs along the bottom, the cuffs of sleeves and the border of triangular back flap, adorned with red and blue quillwork in a horizontal plaited band flanked by zig zag motifs, hide tie at front; the leggings of typical form with fringe along edges; moccasins consisting of seven segments sinew sewn, decorated with red painted crosses

The Reverend Peter Jones, a Missisauga Indian (1802-1856), was photographed in a comparable outfit circa 1845. The photograph was featured in Sotheby's Belgrava catalougue, March 8, 1974, lot 80. It was also published in David Bruce's Sun Pictures, Graphic Society, Greenich CT, 1973, Page 80. The coat from this outfit is exhibited in the Smithsonian Museum, #178398.
