A BELLE EPOQUE PEARL AND DIAMOND SAUTOIR
The tassel, comprised of numerous strands of seed pearls measuring from approximately 2.80 to 2.70 mm., with an old mine-cut diamond openwork cupola cap and bail, suspended from a single strand of seed pearls measuring from approximately 4.40 to 2.85 mm., mounted in gold and white metal, circa 1910--62 ins. long
With certificate 10325883 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the pearls tested at random, are natural pearls.
Julia Grant, grand-daughter of American President Ulysses S. Grant, married Prince Michael Cantacuzne, Count Speransky. Their marriage was the event of the day, and a number of gifts were from the firm of Faberg. She is one of the earliest recorded American clients of Faberg visiting Russia in 1900 with Henry C. Walters on his yacht "Narada". In fact, an important piece of Tiffany favrile glass presented to the couple was then sent to Faberg to be mounted in silver.
