Lot Essay

In 1895 Remington executed The Bronco Buster, his first sculpture ever created: this model became an icon of the American West. The Bronco Buster was an immediate success, and Harper's Weekly devoted a full page to the work in their October 19th 1895 issue. The Bronco Buster was cast by a variety of foundries over a period of approximately twenty-five years. The present work was cast by Roman Bronze Works in New York, which cast the bronze from 1900 to 1919.
